Nativity

Today we got given a task which was to re write the nativity story in a certain way. Mandy had made a list of options such as animtion, rap, sports commentary and more. After we had seen the list Mandy had put us into pairs and gave us one of the things that where on the list. I was put with Rhiannon and were told to do it in sign. We started off by deciding that Rhiannon would teach me how to sign the nativity story as she knows alot about sign langauge. After many attempts we then went on to decide that it would be better if I would read out the brief summary of the nativity while Rhiannon would sign beside me.

Placement week :)

So this week was placement week and so I chose to go come home to the primary school that I went to when I was younger. It is a welsh and english school and I decided to go to the welsh section as I was taught in welsh. On the first day I went to dosbarth 6 (class 6). On the second day I went to nursery and then for the rest of the week I stayed in dosbarth derbyn (reception). The reason that I got put in reception class for the last three days was because I know that I would like to work with children around this age and thought that I would get more out and enjoy it more in this class. I also thought it would be good for me to have a day or two in other classes to have the experience and to be aware of the diferences within these classes. The class I enjoyed the most was reception. The reason for this is because I found that I got more out of it as I was with children within the age group of what I hope to work with in the future. During the week I had learnt many things about how the children learn and how the teachers learn them. I had really enjoyed my week, and found myself not wanting to leave. Using the programme 2simple 2animate.

I came across this programme 2simple 2animate in ICT today. The programme is a programme where you can do your own animation. In the class we had been given a task to do so that we could get used to using it. We had 10 minutes to play around with it and make any animation we wanted to. For some reason I decided to do a carrot growing from it's roots. This is what I came up with.

After we all got used to using the programme we got given the task to go and create a catchphrase on any topic of our choice. It took me a while to think about what I was going to do as it is not the easiest of programmes to go to extreme lengths and go on to creating something complicated. I am going to show you the catchphrase. Have a guess as to what it is and leave a comment :)


Now that I have been introduced to this programme I hope to develope my animation skills and maybe use this as an advantage to create a animation to include into my project.

Presenting our wikki

In today's ICT lesson we started off by loading up our wikki page and we then went up in our groups to present it. Our group was first up. We all went over what we did and included in our topics, and then had a discussion about it with the rest of the class. After we had finished ours we then watched the other groups present there topics wich where on education of the past and education of the future.
After doing this we had been told to go on this website www.delicious.com
It holds the websites you have been on so that you do not have to worry if you have forgotten them. We had to create our own account as by doing this we would have our own folder where we can put our links into. All you need to do with the links is save the link onto this website in your folder and it will be there ready to click on when you want to go on it next.
I have only got 3 websites in my folder so far as I have not been on to many websites that are usefull yet. Hopefully the list will gradually get bigger within the next phew years :)

Creating a wikki

For our reading week task for ict we had been put into groups of 4 and got given a topic to do. Within these topics are different headlines. What we had to do over reasearch week was to sort out who is going to do what within our group. We all had to decide who was going to do what haedline, and who was going to create the folder. All we had to go and do was create the folder with our topic - 'What is education today' and within the folder we all had to create our individual pages with the haedlines we got given. I got given the title 'How do children learn in and out of school'. As a group we all went and filled the pages with details on the topics. When it came to our ict class we got told that we did not have to fill in the pages, all we had to do was create the page and folder. So we went and spent the lesson trying to see what we could do to improve our pages. We added some pictures and video's to the pages, to make them look interesting.

ICT project idea...

So we have been given our ict assignment which is to do a project on any topic of our choice and it has to include 4000 words and a final piece. The final piece could be anything whether it is a book, big board, sculpture, video or anything that combines all the work within the project into one final piece. It is just a case of using my imagination. The due date is in may so there is plenty of time but the months will fly by so I thought I better get started before it is too late. I have given this a lot of thought and I have come to a decision of what I would like to do. I am thinking of doing the topic on 'My Holidays'. The reason for this is because I have been too many places during my life and so I feel that I could really go into detail on the places I have been to and go on to develop many things into the project. I am going to add some pictures for you to see the places that I have been to. Let me know what you think :)

Research week

So this week I am going to start thinking about what to do for my ICT and Problem Solving projects as we have a whole week off to get going and start brainstorming ideas. I have also started on the assignment that we have for Sian and I am sure like most of you in my class I am still not 100% sure on how to reference. Hopefully I will get there one day :) Hope you are all having a nice week off see you soon :)

Reflective learning bubble

In my ICT lesson we had to discuss in a group about what is reflective learning. Then we all put our ideas together within our class to create a spider diagram using https://bubbl.us/ so that we would could brainstorm all of our suggestions on what is reflective leraning and get an idea of how to use it. We then went on to do our own individual diagram on what is reflective learning and this is what i did.

Evaluating the process of a webpage

In my ICT class I had to work in a group with 3 other girls and chose a topic that we all agreed with. The topic we chose was obesity in children. We then had to go on the internet and find a decent website on it. The website we chose was http://www.emedicinehealth.com/obesity_in_children/article_em.htm. After looking through the website we all discussed the good and bad points about it. We came up with the following points about why it was good: the links, not to much information fitted into one page, lots of topics within the links. These are the bad points that we came up with: advertising - to many advertising on the webpage so it was slowing the website itself down and it wasnt anything to do with our topic. After doing this we then went on to look in to how accurate it was by checking when it was last updated. When we were all happy with what we came up with we had to do a presentation on it infront of the class.

Hi, my name is Sian. I am 18 years old and I am a student in Swansea Metropolitan currently studying Educational Studies. The reason why i chose to come to Swansea is because its not to far but not to close to home. I hope to become a primary teacher after completing this degree. Over the last few years I have had to do alot of work experiences and I chose to go to a primary school. This made me feel more confident on becoming a primary school teacher.
